I just love hydrangea.  The amazing variations of tonal colors just make my soul sing!  It was an absolute joy to work with all those lovely shades in creating this one of a kind piece. Now complete and looking for a very special place to make her new home;  she was created from a lovely creamy ivory fabric.  It has a gorgeous sheen to it and also has little guard hairs!  Her paw pads and inner ears are made of ultra suede.

Gia is about 4 and 3/4  inches tall when standing.  She has bent arms and straight legs with wire armature, so she can hold soft poses with her arms and legs.

She has hand painted pearlized emerald green eyes with an undereye white accent and a sewn in upper eyelid.  She has  shading near her mouth and eyes as well as above her cute little nose.  Her face has been deeply sculpted using invisible internal stitches.  Her nose is stitched in lilac silk floss and has been sealed for durability and a soft shine.  I wanted Gia to coordinate nicely with her cushion, so I’ve made her an adorable little Peter Pan style collar out of white wool felt.  I’ve embroidered two miniature hydrangea flowers along with foliage upon it.  It is also accented with a tiny green button.  She sports a fanciful cream colored tutu with embroidered hydrangea as well.   Her costume is not designed to be removed.

Her front and rear paws have pads made of ultra suede , and they have tiny little pulled and shaded toes.  She’s been stuffed with poly fil.

As always, I’ve paid very close attention to making sure that my miniatures have all the detail and intricacy of a much larger bear.  I am also a stickler for proportion.  I really like for them to pass for large bears until you see a  picture of one in my hand.

Gia’s little tuffet is made from ivory linen fabric.  Upon it, I’ve stitched a garland of hydrangea blossoms along with stems and vines.  I think she looks quite fetching perched upon it, though she can certainly be displayed on her own.  The tuffet may be used as a traditional pincushion, or to display a special broach or pin if you like.  It’s such great fun to challenge myself with the needle arts.  I must say it fills me with pride and warm feelings to know that I can help keep these lovely past times alive and well in this digital age! I never tire of learning!

Here you can see all of the variegated shades I’ve used.  Deep blues, lilac, lavender, dusty rose, emerald and spring greens all combine to mimic the natural tonal variations seen in the plant itself.  This little tuffet has a hard base covered with white wool felt so it holds its shape perfectly and sits nicely upon a dresser top or shelf for display.

Gia will arrive lovingly gift boxed and with her own photographic Certificate of Authenticity.
