I can finally show the ribbon work I was messing around with a few weeks ago, as my surprise has made its arrival in Germany. It’s done in shades of burgundy, rust, burnished orange, and antique gold, with avocado and forest green leaves. The flat broach is shown as a hat. The bear doing the modeling [...]

I’ve made a bear out of the most delicious new fabric! It’s such a unique and beautiful color… sort of a dusty pale, mauvy-eggplant… but it has a warm brownish cast in some light as well. How’s THAT for a description! After endlessly combing through my huge stash of yarn, ribbon, beads, and buttons… nothing I [...]

Just a wee bit of background… My mother taught me to crochet in the fourth grade. I think I may have been home sick from school. It’s completely in my blood now. Honestly, I can crochet in the DARK… it’s that natural feeling for me. My first attempt at knitting has been an exercise in [...]

I’m not much for making New Year’s Resolutions… but this year, I am going to try to make (and KEEP) a few. This year I am going to learn to knit!
Yes, really… knit. The last thing I need is another hobby. Knitting is one of those things I’ve actually purposely avoided learning to do because I know that I’ll [...]

Just received a little package from the Netherlands which contained the new fabrics I ordered from Berta Hesen-Minten! YEA! I am so excited to dive in and see how they work up as bears! They are lush long piles with little guard-hairs… SO BEAUTIFUL!
If you haven’t yet, do take the time to visit her site. Her [...]

I have to say that when it comes to color schemes I am a bit “challenged.” Sure, I have favorite colors, but none of them really seem to work together. Really, I like that irridescent, “color” of dragonfly wings! So completely intangible, and so beautiful… an yet, so not really a color in any sense of [...]
